Always happy to contribute to this very inspiring course from the JM Burgers School in fluid dynamics!

Demos of saturated sodium acetate effectively demonstrate metastability. They are cheap and reusable! Great trick for thermodynamics teaching, especially when used in conjunction with some videos from Crazy Russian Hacker.

After years of reviewer agony we finally managed to get our paper on hydrogel suspensions out in the Journal of Rheology!

In an effective collaboration with Renko de Vries and Jasper van der Gucht, we found that model compistes give direct mechanical access to how hydrogel composites are assembled, and how they fail.

Thanks to the EU for funding our new ITN “CALIPER” in which we aim to connect 3D experimentalists with DEM experts to improve our understanding of granular materials.
