A simple low pressure drop suspension-based microfluidic mixer

Mixing stuff in very viscous fluids, or better said: at low Reynolds number, is not easy. Here is a microfluidics tool that allows one to do so anyway. It uses a simple small magnet aka stirring bar in a small chamber.

POV-Ray on experimental data of diffusion in granular flows never ceases to amaze. This video shows reconstructed laser-sheet imaging data from a so-called split-bottom shear experiment. The color indicates the angular velocity of the particles.
