Mechanics of composite hydrogels approaching phase separation
In an effective collaboration with Renko de Vries and Jasper van der Gucht, we found that model compistes give direct mechanical access to how hydrogel composites are assembled, and how they fail.
We will miss you!
Arriving just too late, or just in time?
Symmetry-reversals in chiral active matter
Interactions between actively driven, spinning particles determine their collective behavior! Nice collaboration with Karen Daniels from NCSU. Our work also graced the back cover of the journal Soft Matter.
Marcel Workamp graduated
Marcel Workamp graduated with a very nice thesis that covered active matter, soft particle suspension flows, microfluidics and hydrogel particle synthesis! You can find his thesis here and him on LinkedIn.
We generally have nice colleagues at WUR
Not sure why this suddenly shows up on the feed…
SES Conference in Boston
Nice conference, nice people. Stress ball not needed.
2017 Klokhuis Vragendag!
The NEMO science museum in Amsterdam hosted the Klokhuis Vragendag, where kids can come and ask their science questions to scientists!
Visiting the pantheon of granular physics
It doesn’t look like much, but here is where the particle Gods live. Visiting IUSTI Marseille.
